PINDANA
In 1998 I got an offer to move to Australia and work as a traditional healer at a healing centre. Since then a lot of time has passed by and lots of new experiences came up in my new home. In Newmerella at the southeast coast, around 400 kilometres away from Melbourne I bought a large property of 600,000 square metres and had a house built. On an area of around 10,000 square metres a garden was created with a pond, lots of fruit trees and a vegetable garden. Several animals did also find their home here. The remaining part of the property was left in its original condition so that animals like kangaroos and wombats could still live here. At a later date I had an additional apartment built on the already cultivated area. Since the healing centre was not realized I had the desire to help fringe group people myself. For this project I chose the name PINDANA. This word is originating from the Sanskrit dictionary and means: true to God´s will".
2015 A visit to Pindana. The people living on the property are here happy, the proteas growing so well and look wonderful.
2014. My daughter asked my to come back to Germany. I decided to lease the farm and moved back to Germany on the Lake of Constance.
2011-2013. I grow the proteas more and more and the nature spoiled me - the flowers have been incredibly.
2009 - 2010: Fortunately I was able to find a low-priced old and disused school building for my project, which could be transported via a flat car. Together with some friends and craftsmen I am rebuilding it into a handicapped accessible two-room apartment at the moment. Together with the other small apartment it will be offered to families with critically ill children for their holidays. In order to making this idea public I will organize a festivity and have flyers made as soon as the house is accomplished. I do hope that the families will be able to recover and regain their strength in this wonderful natural landscape in order to withstand everyday life stronger than before.
2008: A Protea farm is initiated: On a large cleared area beneath the house I started cropping Protea plants (local flowering plants). After three years the bushes will be in flower. Then the flowers will be sold throughout Australia and overseas. Why did I choose Protea plants? One reason was to turn the outback beneath the house into some arable land and to achieve a protection against fire hazards. Since, if the outback should catch fire the wall of fire would reach my house in no time. Consequently, with the help of the Protea planting I created a buffer zone. Another reason was that I wanted to help local people out of work. I will be responsible for administration work and the general overview. Selling the flowers will also be an income for my future life. All surplus money will inure to the benefit of different non-profit institutions: at the community of Orbost or social organizations such as the "House of Hope", who are supporting two orphanages in Sri Lanka and Thailand.
2006 - 2007: One of the large sheds was modified into a small apartment and I planned to make it available to families with sick children in return for a monetary donation. These types of apartments / houses are already existing in Bairnsdale, around 90 kilometres away. Usually they are occupied most of the time. I tried to introduce the small apartment to the public by posting some flyers, the city of Orbost had given me the approval for a "bed + breakfast" accommodation. But unfortunately this offer of mine failed to work. Probably because I am living too far away from Melbourne and travelling that far was too expensive, even if the holiday was for free.
2005: A Children`s Village: All my life I wanted to live with many children and in my younger days I even was on the verge of entering a convent. Mother Teresa was my inspiring example. Why not building a Children`s Village at Pindana? I got in touch with the federal state authority and the rural district representatives of ? and submitted my proposal of establishing an orphanage following the example of the SOS Children`s Villages. Both representatives were really impressed and receiving a building permission would not have been any problem. Hereupon I got in touch with the chairman of the Australian SOS Children`s Villages, but he told me that, due to legal requirements it is absolutely impossible to establish a child-centre in Australia. It seems that the representatives were not familiar with this fact.
2003-2004: What should I do with Pindana and so much space? A hostel for mentally ill persons, giving them work and cure? The city of Orbost gave me the permission to build such a hostel. I prepared a detailed business plan: if 10 up to 12 persons would be accommodated the whole project would self-finance. I had a conversation with the director of the hospital in Orbost. He was very much impressed by my idea and assured me the necessity of a hostel for alcohol addicted and drug-dependant persons. But friends of mine advised me against, since drugs are often combined with crime and I am living all alone in a house far off. And so I decided not to follow this plan any longer.
2001-2002: The healing centre, the reason why I came to Australia, it unfortunately turned out to be nothing but hollow words. There was a lot of planning and meeting activities but in the end the result was a loss of money and a church, standing lonely on a property without healing centre.
PINDANA - all my projects here on this property I dedicated to the will of God. I do feel confident - he gave his blessings to all projects.
Pindana....... is Sanskrit and means"put under God's will".
